The Sanctuary

Sunny Meadow Sanctuary is a safe haven for rescued farm animals. Each and every farm animal at Sunny Meadow was spared from going to a slaughterhouse and is now living a peaceful, happy life here at the sanctuary.

It has long been our dream to rescue farm animals along with the other work we do to help animals. Happily, that dream has become a reality! In 2009 we rescued our first two farm animals, two young female goats, who we named Hannah and Ivy. We soon rescued some ducks and chickens, and Sunny Meadow was born.

Sunny Meadow is located on our farm in rural Central Massachusetts. Our animals’ safety and well-being is our utmost and only goal.

The heart of our farm is a large multi-acre meadow, filled with grass, wildflowers, butterflies and all the other great critters and plants that thrive in meadows. Besides providing our own animals’ enjoyment and grazing, it also sustains a host of wildlife—deer, mice, groundhogs, wild turkeys, fox, mink, birds, and more. We even get occasional visits from moose! Bluebirds and swallows nest in our meadow bird boxes and they have raised babies there for years. The meadow is a paradise for birds in general. Awash in sun and fresh air, this meadow is not just our sanctuary’s namesake; it is also vital to hundreds of animals’ wellbeing.
